Red Eyes Dragon Boat (formerly Red Eyes Paddling Club) is a competitive dragonboat team based in Calgary, Alberta.  We were founded in 1998 as a team of Air Canada employees, with our name coming from the "red eye" flights they worked.  Today, we are no longer affiliated with Air Canada, but are made up of many people with diverse backgrounds, ages and paddling experience.  We are a competitive mixed team and accept new paddlers yearly.

Our core beliefs are Diversity, Commitment, Courage, Integrity & Community, as we embrace each person's individual strengths and value the strong bond of camaraderie within our team. Just like the pieces in our mosaic dragon logo, every person is integral in our journey and success.

All of our paddlers share the same core interests of athleticism, cooperation, and fun!   We display a Competitive spirit while having fun at it, and good sportsmanship competing in the many festivals we participate in every year. Our Mixed and Women's divisions do well at festivals, and we have won medals at various festivals locally and abroad, across Western Canada and the U.S. (eg. Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Penticton, Montana, Oakland, Portland, Las Vegas, and beyond).  While we love to race and win, we do it with keeping the spirit and heart of the sport in mind = teamwork & fun on and off the water!

Teambuilding for our members is an important aspect of our success! We encourage our members to join in and work on our team blend outside of paddling as well, when we travel to out of town festivals, our infamous after practice drinks and Sunday brunches, the acclaimed Red Eye Awards wrap-up party, and during our off-season fitness training sessions & organized social activities throughout the year.

We always welcome new paddlers and sponsors interested in supporting dragon boat racing, we invite you to come see what it's all about!
